My everyday makeup routine

I’m not sure what happened but I really love makeup right now. My favorite thing to do right now is scroll through YouTube and watching beauty vloggers unbox their new beauty products and I start to get so excited because I NEED to try everything out. I’m definitely a beginner when it comes to buying makeup and applying it but I have the basics down.  I started using powder foundation a few months ago but it really has no impact on my face and I didn’t really like the consistency. I stopped by Sephora and picked up the Sephora liquid foundation in the color Deep Mocha. It matched my skin tone perfectly and it was only $20. This works so much better than powder. And it blends beautifully.

My NYX first base spray primer and setting spray work so well for me. I spray my beauty blender with the first base spray then I apply my foundation. I find that it blends better when the beauty blender is a little damp. And the dewy setting spray gives me that everyday shine that I like on my face without being too over the top.  If I’m not in the mood to use either I just use my First Aid Beauty hello fab coconut skin smoothie Priming moisturizer. It’s soft and makes my skin smell so good!

For my lips, I either keep it simple or take it to the next level with color. Some days I just want a lip balm and other days I like matte lipsticks in a dark color or a bright lip gloss. It really just depends on my mood that day. A lot of my lip products are from Ulta or the Marshalls beauty section. I try to find great products at an affordable price so I don’t break the bank while shopping for makeup. What do you guys use in your everyday makeup routine? Tell me in the comments below!

Knowing your worth and starting fresh – blogging tips

Jacket: Old Navy, Sweater: Loft, Shoes: Boohoo

Photography: Pixel Moving Company

Last year was eye-opening for me when it came to blog collaborations. I worked with some really awesome brands and I made connections with lovely people who work in PR and I’m so grateful for everything. Sometimes I can’t help but think about why certain people are getting opportunities and I’m not. I go back and forth with this thought and I try to not let it affect me. It’s terrible to say but some brands want bloggers to have a “certain” look to go along with their campaign and that’s awful.

So many brands pass up on wonderful women because they don’t fit their image of what beauty should be. And you know what, WHATEVER. The brands I’ve had the pleasure of working with know that I’m honest on my blog and I stay true to who I am and what I believe in. This year I won’t let it bother me that a company I like chose someone else over me or didn’t respond to my e-mails. The companies that do reach out to you are the connections that you want to keep because they believe in your blog and your vision.

Also, when it comes to sponsored content you HAVE to know your worth! Never be afraid to ask for a rate especially if you’ve worked on a few collaborations. Blogging is a job for some people and they depend on these funds to keep things going in their life. If you’re taking the photos, editing videos and all of that fantastic stuff you have to charge PLAIN AND SIMPLE. I know a few people say that bloggers should do a few free collaborations before you ask for a rate and I agree if you’re in the early stages of blogging and you want to establish relationships. But after a while, it’s time to say hey, I have a rate of X amount and this is what I can provide for this collaboration. The point is your work matters so don’t forget that.  Let me know what you guys think about this in the comments below. Thanks for reading!

Yellow Primark top & J.Jill Jeggings

I’m introducing yellow back into my routine this month starting with this top from Primark. I found this top on sale for $5! I told myself I wouldn’t buy anything when I went inside Primark but that never happens. I wear color but sometimes I’m so confused when it comes to the color yellow. It’s beautiful but it all depends on the fabric and the style. I wore a really pretty yellow dress last summer to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and I loved it! I think my summer glow helped the color pop more.

The J.Jill team sent me some new items from the January collection and these denim jeggings came in the package. If you talked to me a few years ago I would’ve told you how much I hate leggings or any sort of jegging style. Now I can’t get enough of them I would wear them every day if I could. It all started with my tan jeggings from Uniqlo and now I’m completely hooked. My favorite part about this top is the small details on the sleeves. The sleeves are sheer with tiny little poms up and down the arm.

Before you go, I linked some similar styles below! Shop my J.Jill jeggings and yellow tops by clicking the image. Thanks for stopping by!

Unwinding on the weekends

Photography: Pixel Moving Company

I have a hard time relaxing on the weekends and I’m often told I need to just chill out and relax. When I try to unwind I end up doing a lot of random stuff around the house. I think I do all of this to keep my mind going which is the complete opposite of relaxing. When I do sit back and kick my feet up there are a few things I really like to do so I wanted to share that with you guys today. I think you might like these tips and I hope you try some out yourself this weekend. What do some of you do to unwind? I would love to hear some tips so I can add them to my weekend routine. I know a few people who mask every weekend and I wish I had the patience to do that. I want my mask to dry immediately because I really don’t like waiting around. I guess I should work on that, the whole point is to unwind right?

1. Soak in the bath

I have a pretty large bubble bath collection and I haven’t used any of it. I want to take more baths and I’m going to start doing it. Bubble bath scents and the hot water can be so relaxing. Read a magazine while you’re in there too!

2. Massage

Groupon has hour-long massages at some of the best places around Boston. My parents got me a birthday massage at the Intercontinental and it was the best one I’ve had in a very long time. The hotel is gorgeous and the spa is beautiful too. I’ve been checking Groupon constantly for that deal again.

3. Read a book

Sometimes relaxing is as simple as laying on your couch and reading a book. I just started Power You Happy by Lisa Sugar, the founder of the popular website PopSugar. I love inspirational books about peoples careers. It feels good to know some of the people we look up to have gone through similar struggles in their life.

4. Meditation

A few people that I follow on Instagram swear by meditation and setting aside a few minutes a day to clear their head. I haven’t tried this yet but if I have a really a stressful day I will try it out. Headspace is a really popular one.

Best of 2017 skincare and hair products

Today I’m rounding up all of my favorite beauty products of 2017. It’s been a great year for skincare and I’ve been introduced to some really cool brands so of course, I’m going to share that with you guys. Some of these products are not new but they are in heavy rotation throughout the year and my skin just loves them. What have you guys been using this year? Oils, moisturizers, masks? Let me know in the comments below. I’m so excited to try out some new skincare this year. I follow a ton of beauty vloggers so I’m always looking for inspiration and tips.

Ever since I started using Glossier my skin has improved so much. The milk jelly cleanser and the balm dotcom in coconut are my favorite products. I had the chance to stop by the showroom in New York and it’s super cute. If you’re looking for a new brand to try this should be it. Also, their customer service is great so they’ll answer any questions you have about the products. I linked both products above.

2. Patchology

I found out about this brand through Instagram and other bloggers who kept posting about it on their page. I reached out to the PR team and asked to try some products of course. This was the best decision because they have some really fun and inexpensive skincare items. I use the 5-minute lip gels a lot before I head out and they are being used more due to the cold weather. I use the night mask every single night after my shower, my face is so soft in the morning.

3. L’Bri

This is another brand that reached out to me so I could try out their products so I was very excited to add some new stuff to my collection. I was gifted some body butter, body wash, lotion, conditioner, and shampoo along with skincare as well. I give the skincare 5 stars. It’s perfect for sensitive skin and everything smells so good. My favorite is the cucumber body wash and the aloe face cleanser. If you reach out to customer service they are very responsive and they’ll even give you some samples to try. I’m very honest with my reviews so I mean it when I say this brand is really really good.

4. L’Occitane

The divine cream from L’Occitane was gifted to me from the PR team and I’m so thankful I was able to try it out. It’s become my go-to daytime moisturizer and it smells amazing! It’s a little pricey so if you’re willing to splurge on yourself I say go ahead and buy it.

5. Garnier whole blends line

Yes, I know this isn’t skincare but my hair just loves this leave in conditioner. A few hair bloggers said this product was great and they have my hair texture so I figured I would give a new product a try. I purchased this at Target but Garnier products are everywhere. I highly suggest trying out this line it’s so good.

A new way to pay – the circle app

*this sponsored post is in collaboration with Circle. All opinions are my own*

One of the hassles of transferring money to your account is that it takes days for the money to appear in your account. I personally can’t stand when this happens because sometimes I need those funds immediately and I don’t have access to it. I attended a dinner with Circle, which is an app that lets you send money to friends in the room or overseas without any fees. The best right? As we enjoyed a delicious 3-course meal at Townsman we learned how to use the app and send money towards the bill so we could test the app out live.

For the first course, we had minestrone soup with a side of bread and maple butter. For the second course I had butternut squash risotto and it was amazing! I love squash and I’ve never had it with risotto so I will be going back to have this again. I always try new things when I go out to eat so I’m glad I went with this choice. And for my last course, I had chocolate pecan tart with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The dinner was incredible and the app is so easy to use so I was very happy.  I’m not the greatest when it comes to learning new apps but when I have a simple menu and instructions to guide me through the app I’m a pro.

Like I said up above certain apps take a while for the funds to reach your checking account but we sent the money for this meal in seconds. We also had an ongoing group chat going on in the app filled with hilarious gifs. I have a link I can share with friends also! Use the code 3LGD78 and we’ll both get $10 when you sign up with your debit card and send $25. Thanks for reading everyone and thank you to Circle for partnering with me on this post.

Favorite pins Pt. 10 – Holiday Season

Here’s part 10 of my favorite pin series and this is in substitute for my weekly roundup. I created a favorite pins holiday post last year and it was just so colorful and fun that I wanted to do another one. These pins aren’t just for Christmas because you can keep this going until the New Year. Holiday cookies can be a year-round thing and who doesn’t love the fresh smell of pine like in picture 1 and 2. Sugar cookies are my favorite but I’ve never tried them with cream cheese frosting. Georgetown cupcakes adds cream cheese frosting on their cupcakes and it’s phenomenal so I know this will probably be delicious.

In picture 3 the cute brownie reindeer dessert is so cute. Wouldn’t that be the perfect thing to serve at a get together with friends? Plus who doesn’t love brownies?! If you don’t we can’t be friends. Just kidding we can! In picture 4 is the perfect skirt for a party. I would wear it with a bold chunky knit sweater. I would do the same thing with the skirt in picture 5. I just love bold dramatic skirts and red is my favorite color to wear during the holidays. Another fun way to add some drama to the holidays is to wear some sequins like this skirt Julia from Gal Meets Glam is wearing. What are you looking forward to the most this holiday season? I’m excited to spend time with family and eat delicious food on Christmas day. Links to these photos are down below. Happy Holidays everyone!
