I have a love/hate relationship with the fall. We all crave summer until that one day of intense heat hits our city then we daydream about those cool fall mornings. When the September issues hit the stands I had a short moment of sadness. Summer is over, but now I have so many things to look forward to. Fashion week, fall clothing, an excuse for me to shop.
All of my September issues have tabs on the items I just can’t get over. The one thing I love about September issues is the anticipation. I have no idea what to expect when I open those pages and I can’t contain my excitement when I finally get my hands on the magazine. Tweed is going to be huge this season, how do I know?? It’s everywhere! I love when trends make their way back into the fashion world.
The twist on tweed now it’s not only for formal lunch or dinner occasions. Now we can look incredibly chic while keeping it stylish. I got my hands on a tweed coat from Zara during one of their sales and if I could, I would wear it every single day. While flipping through the pages of Glamour’s September issue I came across an article about adding track pants to your wardrobe. My initial reaction to this is why would anyone ever want to wear track pants outside unless they’re working out? But I can see it working if you put on a long chunky sweater over the pants and add some sling back pumps to the mix. I would give it a try if a particular occasion called for it.
Another fall item I want to add to my list is a long vest like the one featured here from Rag & Bone. I have this new obsession with long loose fitting clothing now. Baggy clothes are just so comfortable and warm, just what you need to survive the brutal AC in your office building during the winter (seriously, why is the AC on in the winter)? Vogue celebrated the forces of fashion featuring top designers and their muses. Featured designers included Riccardo Tisci, Raf Simons, Peter Copping, Sarah Burton, the list goes on. They issue also celebrate the return of box bags which I don’t think ever went out of style. I have a DKNY beige box bag I wear almost every weekend. One thing about Allure I enjoyed was reading about Jessica Alba’s company (The Honest Company). The beauty line launched on September 10th and I would love to get my hands on some items.
Elle Magazine was all about over the knee boots, must have jackets, and editor approved denim. A lot of my clothing inspiration has come from the pages of Elle. And each issue never disappoints. As the days go by the trends come into play. I’m excited to see how people mix and match outfits and accessories this fall.
