Weekly roundup

Another week has ended and it’s time to share some of my favorite moments from this week and some from the last few weeks. I hope everyone had a great week and you have fun fall activities planned for this weekend. Sidenote.. I really want to go apple picking this year since I’ve never had the chance to go. Yeah I know, I live in New England and I’ve never gone apple picking. I’m seriously envious of the people who are posing on Instagram in their cute outfits! Don’t worry I’ll be there soon!

1. Solange at the Orpheum

On 9/28 I saw Solange at the Orpheum theater and I was so excited to finally see her live since she cancelled her Boston Calling performance. Someone from work gave me a free ticket in the balcony and I couldn’t refuse. She was amazing live and her voice is incredible. I felt weird at first because I’ve never gone to a concert alone but I didn’t even care I was so into watching her sing and dance I didn’t notice anything else around me.

2.Skincare routine as of lately

I received a few gifts from brands I’m partnering with so I’m trying out a new fall skincare routine. In the morning I use my Clarisonic Mia 1  with a cleanser that comes with the product. After I use my Thayer’s lavender witch hazel toner to get the extra dirt off my face and to open up my pores. Lastly, I use my L’occitane face cream called Divine Cream and it’s so great.

3. Doughnuts

I’m getting into the spirit of Fall so I made apple cider and pumpkin doughnuts! They were so good. The apple cider doughnuts were gluten-free and they went perfectly with coffee.

4. J.Jill Fall Collection

J.Jill sent me their fall collection and it’s full of fun fall pieces. They are starting to cater to younger women now and their pieces have become more versatile.  Click the link above to shop the collection. In a few weeks I will be receiving the November collection. I’ll be putting together a fall fashion haul from J.Jill very soon.

5. Paris Fashion Week Street Style

I can always depend on The Cut to keep me up to date on Street style. Paris Fashion week is my favorite and if you know me then you would know I love everything about Paris. Here are some of my favorite street style looks. All photos by Nabile Quenum.

College Fashion week with Primark & Fall shopping haul

*This is a sponsored post with Primark. All opinions are my own*

Photography: Pixel Moving Company

This was my first time attending College Fashion week here in Boston and it was a fun experience to be around the sponsors and meet some new blogger friends. I wish I had the opportunity to do this when I was in college because I was able to speak with the students about their dreams and what inspires them when it comes to fashion. It’s always interesting to hear another students perspective on school, especially if they’re younger than you.

I was so excited to partner with College Fashion Weeks sponsor Primark! When Primark arrived in the U.S I was there on opening night. The clothing is so affordable and trendy. Every time I step in the store there’s something new on the racks.  I have such a hard time with clothes ripping in the washing machine and nothing from Primark has been destroyed yet (knock on wood)!!  I wanted to put together a fall fashion haul and show you what I picked up this season. Primark has a vast collection of new arrivals right now so this is a great opportunity to add some new pieces to your wardrobe.

The best thing about this store is that you’re not breaking the bank on clothing. Anytime you see someone leaving the store they have multiple bags in their hands. Seriously, you can’t leave with just one bag. This fall I’m going for very light colors and not the typical dark hues. I purchased a pink cardigan and a chunky blue sweater so far. I still have money left on my gift card so I will be going back to get more. All of the images below are similar to my Primark options. Shop away!

4 Days in Nashville

Nashville was never on my list of places to visit but I guess there’s a first time for everything right? I heard the food was delicious and the live music was great so I knew I should give it a chance before judging.  And I love southern food so I was ready to eat every single day. 4 days was enough time to see all of the tourist spots, try some restaurants, and visit some cool bars. We left on a Thursday morning at 8 am so Nick and I had plenty of time to eat breakfast and explore a little bit before our friends got there. Scroll down to see the stops on my trip!

Food, Drink & Air BnB

Nick and I started off the day at Biscuit Love and we split the East Nasty which is fried chicken on a biscuit smothered in sausage gravy. It was DELICIOUS!! While we waited for our friends we stopped by Peg leg Porker for food and a quick drink. Nick got the half rack of ribs and I got the BBQ Nachos covered in pulled pork and slaw. By this time our stomachs were so full we had to take a break. We checked into our Air BnB and relaxed for a bit before we hit the city to explore.

Later that night we went to L.A Jackson on the Thompson Hotel rooftop. We ate AGAIN and had tasty cocktails. The menu was a little pricey but you should expect that in a popular place like Nashville. The vibe was a mix of casual and dressy so you can show up wearing whatever. I really liked this spot and the view of the city from the rooftop.

Another stop on our food list was Tavern.  A gastro pub that serves small plates so I ordered the Philly cheese steak egg rolls with garlic parmesan french fries on the side. This place was a little pricey but the food was amazing. Honestly, every single place we went to for a meal was delicious. Swett’s was by far my favorite place though. It was definitely a small neighborhood spot with soul food. Collard greens, yams, cornbread.. You name it, they had it. I loved the vibe of the restaurant because it wasn’t near any tourist spots.

Saint Anejo was a brunch spot we stopped by on Sunday afternoon. I was so full by Sunday that I couldn’t really finish the meal I ordered here. But the little bites I did take were fantastic.

We went to  Rudy’s Jazz Room on our last night and this was my favorite stop on our trip. This was my first jazz club experience and I was in love with everything. The place was so relaxing and the music was beautiful. If you’re planning a trip to Nashville soon please stop by Rudy’s. You need to experience this place. They also serve gumbo and according to Nick it was really good!

Stay

Air bnb – Stay Alfred

The air bnb was very spacious and it had two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a living room area. We stayed in an area called the Gulch which was very close to all of the tourist spots and all of the restaurants we ate at. We had to call an Uber a few times to restaurants that were a little bit out of the way but other than that we walked everywhere. I really liked this Airbnb I thought it was a cool experience.

Coffee

Frothy Monkey

This coffee shop was located on 12 South in Nashville and it was a little spot hidden in the trees. I don’t remember the name of the iced coffee I had but it tasted like coconut and it was delicious.  We stopped here before we went into the Draper James store and Five Daughters Bakery.

Barista Parlor

This is by far the best coffee I’ve had in a very long time. The coffee paired so well with their almond milk. It was so smooth it seemed unreal. The wait was a little long because the baristas were very particular about how they make their coffee but it was worth the wait. I went twice while I was in Nashville and it wasn’t enough. I miss their coffee so much!

Additional spots to visit

Parthenon replica in Centennial Park

Broadway – Bars, restaurants, live country music

Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum

John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge

Nashville Murals

Weekly roundup

We’ve made it to Friday so it’s time for my 2nd installment of weekly roundup. I got back from Nashville last Sunday and I’m still tired. Coming back from a trip and jumping back into your regular schedule is the hardest. I do miss all of the food we had there and the biscuits, OH MY GOD THE BISCUITS! I can’t even explain how good they were. I’m really starting to like these weekly roundup post. It gives me an excuse to talk about fashion and lifestyle all the time!

1.Taste of Seaport

Anything involving food and drinks I’m going to show up for. I had the opportunity to try samples from restaurants in the Seaport area like Sweetgreen, Strega Waterfront, Sapore restaurant and bar, Wagamama and many more. Wagamama had this beef brisket sample that was OUT OF THIS WORLD! And By Chloe, your ice cream and chocolate chip cookies were absolutely delicious.

2.Nina Garcia is the new EIC of Elle Magazine

Hearst announced this news on Tuesday the 12th. She was the creative director for Elle so I’m excited to see how she can take this magazine to the next level.

3.Media Companies are realizing they NEED social media influencers

Editors and publishing houses did not want to hop on board with the Influencer trend a while ago. Now they’re embracing what Influencers can do for their business. Micro-influencers are also taking over the industry. Their smaller audience tends to have more of an impact on readers which leads to better engagement.

4.College Fashion Week

I’m headed to College fashion week this weekend and I got the chance to treat myself to a fall fashion haul which was a gift from Primark. I’m completely set on fall clothing this season and I couldn’t be happier.

5. Weekend sales!

This weekend Loft is having a sale with items up to 40% off. Check out my picks down below.

6.  The best street style from NYFW – Images from The Cut

I enjoyed keeping up with NYFW this year. The weather was beautiful so people really went all out when it came to their outfit choices. The Cut has a great slideshow of Street Style outfits. The photo below is of Tiffany Hsu

Jewelry fun with BaubleBar

Sweater: Ralph Lauren, Jeans: H&M, Slides: Chinese Laundry (DSW), Earrings: Bauble Bar, Purse: Prada

Photography: Nick Carter

My BaubleBar jewelry came in the mail! I’ve met a lot people who can’t stop raving about the website so of course I picked up some stuff for myself. I bought the Flamenco Drop earrings in Periwinkle and the Celestial Ribbon Choker. I wore my Flamenco Drop earrings to High tea and that was all I needed to dress up my outfit. The right accessories can make your outfit 100% better and the Flamenco Drops are so fun and colorful.  I have my eye on the red Crispin Drops for the summer, they would go perfectly with my rompers and summer outfits.  I wore my Celestial Ribbon Choker a few times and I’m in love with it. I was so late to the choker trend but now I’m fully on board and obsessed.

On another note, I broke out my slides again! These were definitely an impulse purchase from DSW as is everything else I get from there. The brand is Chinese Laundry and they’re very comfortable. I’m still into the slide trend and that’s not stopping for me anytime soon. Before you head out, click the link in my sidebar to check out the website and buy some stuff for yourself. BaubleBar has some really great deals so click the sale link first.

Pom Pom Sweater

Photography: Nick Carter

The story behind this sweater is a short one. The sweater arrived in the mail completely wrong. Only one sleeve had the poms on it so I took it to my cleaners for some alterations. I really like the end result with the two poms on the each sleeve. Poms on sweaters were big in 2016 but I’m bringing  it with me into the New Year.  Also, Happy New Year! This is the time of year we really try to push ourselves to start those new year’s resolutions.

I want to accomplish a lot of personal goals this year. I want to open myself up and meet new people. I can be very shy at times and I’m not sure why. I’m a very outgoing and loud person it’s strange when that just switches off. I also don’t want to worry about what people think so much. Ashley from Brunch on Chestnut had a great post about personal goals and one was to stop comparing her blog to others. I learned that my work isn’t the same as others. We all have goals so I need to focus on mine and stop stressing out.

And finally I need to squeeze in ME time when it’s necessary. I tend to worry so much about others I forget that I need a little TLC too. I plan to schedule more mani/pedis and massages for myself. Thank you for reading. Make sure to subscribe to my blog for new post updates!

Boohoo City Guides

BoohooBoohooBoohooBoohooBoohooBoohoo

There’s so much to love about Boston! Born and raised a city girl, It’s exciting to see how much the city has changed over the years. So many new stores to shop at, restaurants to try, and boutiques to discover. There’s also a ton of new apartments popping up in the city and surrounding areas. People are finally starting to notice how exciting Boston is.My favorite time to be in the city is during the fall. The foliage here in the city and up north in New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont is so beautiful.  If you ever plan to visit Boston in the future I would be happy to share some recommendations.  I’m excited to have teamed up with Boohoo to create a Boston City Guide. I’m sharing my favorite go-to restaurants, parks, and neighborhood. Thank you Boohoo for letting me share my favorite parts of Boston with my readers!

1. What neighborhood should people visit and why?

I’ve mentioned this a few times before in previous blog post but the South End is my favorite part of the city. It’s so relaxing and all of my favorite brunch spots are down there. The streets are filled with small boutiques too. If I ever had the chance to move to the South End I would in a heartbeat.

2. The best restaurant for foodies?

Barcelona wine bar is one of my favorite places. The tapas are absolutely delicious! The Brookline location is gorgeous and more spacious.

3. Favorite park?

The Public Garden is my favorite park in the city. The city keeps it so clean and beautiful year round. It’s the perfect spot to sit and eat a quick breakfast and drink some coffee with friends.

Top five fall boots

Fall BootsFall bootsimg_6389

Cardigan: H&M , Boots: Asos, Scarf: Primark, Jeans: H&M, Shirt: Old Navy

This weather is beautiful, isn’t it! I’m in love with this cool fall breeze because I can finally wear my boots. I never know what to expect with this weather but since October is next week, I know I’ll be wearing my boots constantly. I kept a few of my boots in good shape so I don’t need to buy a ton of new shoes. One of my favorite things to do is go shoe shopping so why not dedicate a blog post to the top five shoes I want right now. Click the ShopStyle links below to browse.

Next week I head back to Paris!!! YAY!!!  These Asos boots are coming with me on the trip. Comfortable travel shoes are a necessity when you plan on walking around during your vacation. Where are some of your favorite places to buy fall shoes? I like DSW, Asos, and Loft. Also, if you guys have any restaurant or bar recommendations for my trip I would love them!

Currently Craving- Fall edition

currently-craving-layout

1.Coach shearling coat  2. Silk Pajama Top 3. Blanket Cape  4. Ankle Booties   5. Tan Slides 6. Check Square Scarf

I love writing my currently craving series because 1. I want every single thing I put on the list and 2. It makes me SO happy to start a new season and find new fashion trends. Right now I really want a shearling coat like this one from Coach. You would assume shearling is heavy and weighs down your shoulders but this coat is the complete opposite. It’s very light and warm, perfect for winter in Boston. I kind of want to buy a silk pajama top like this one from the J.Crew fall collection. People always gravitate towards dark colors during the fall but I like the Warm Almond color the most. I’m not sure if I can pull the look off but it doesn’t hurt to try.

I have one cape from Asos and I want to add another so it won’t be so lonely in my closet. This plaid blanket cape from The Gap might be the perfect addition to my fall collection. I love that the cape comes with a belt so I don’t have to constantly adjust it.  I need to buy all new shoes for this season, Sole Society has an affordable selection of fall booties. When I buy fall/winter shoes I wear them until they break. That’s not really a bad thing because it’s money well spent. I really like the tan ankle booties in taupe. Lastly, I’m eyeing these  Kristin Cavallari slides in tan! Which one do you guys like best? Tell me and I might end up buying it – LOL!
