This was my first time attending College Fashion week here in Boston and it was a fun experience to be around the sponsors and meet some new blogger friends. I wish I had the opportunity to do this when I was in college because I was able to speak with the students about their dreams and what inspires them when it comes to fashion. It’s always interesting to hear another students perspective on school, especially if they’re younger than you.
I was so excited to partner with College Fashion Weeks sponsor Primark! When Primark arrived in the U.S I was there on opening night. The clothing is so affordable and trendy. Every time I step in the store there’s something new on the racks. I have such a hard time with clothes ripping in the washing machine and nothing from Primark has been destroyed yet (knock on wood)!! I wanted to put together a fall fashion haul and show you what I picked up this season. Primark has a vast collection of new arrivals right now so this is a great opportunity to add some new pieces to your wardrobe.
The best thing about this store is that you’re not breaking the bank on clothing. Anytime you see someone leaving the store they have multiple bags in their hands. Seriously, you can’t leave with just one bag. This fall I’m going for very light colors and not the typical dark hues. I purchased a pink cardigan and a chunky blue sweater so far. I still have money left on my gift card so I will be going back to get more. All of the images below are similar to my Primark options. Shop away!
We’ve made it to Friday so it’s time for my 2nd installment of weekly roundup. I got back from Nashville last Sunday and I’m still tired. Coming back from a trip and jumping back into your regular schedule is the hardest. I do miss all of the food we had there and the biscuits, OH MY GOD THE BISCUITS! I can’t even explain how good they were. I’m really starting to like these weekly roundup post. It gives me an excuse to talk about fashion and lifestyle all the time!
Anything involving food and drinks I’m going to show up for. I had the opportunity to try samples from restaurants in the Seaport area like Sweetgreen, Strega Waterfront, Sapore restaurant and bar, Wagamama and many more. Wagamama had this beef brisket sample that was OUT OF THIS WORLD! And By Chloe, your ice cream and chocolate chip cookies were absolutely delicious.
Editors and publishing houses did not want to hop on board with the Influencer trend a while ago. Now they’re embracing what Influencers can do for their business. Micro-influencers are also taking over the industry. Their smaller audience tends to have more of an impact on readers which leads to better engagement.
4.College Fashion Week
I’m headed to College fashion week this weekend and I got the chance to treat myself to a fall fashion haul which was a gift from Primark. I’m completely set on fall clothing this season and I couldn’t be happier.
5. Weekend sales!
This weekend Loft is having a sale with items up to 40% off. Check out my picks down below.
I enjoyed keeping up with NYFW this year. The weather was beautiful so people really went all out when it came to their outfit choices. The Cut has a great slideshow of Street Style outfits. The photo below is of Tiffany Hsu
These photos were taken on a really really humid day here in Boston. Even an outfit like this was too much! But I love this skirt and I wanted to share it. I purchased it from Primark a year ago and it’s still in good shape. Happy Friday everyone!
I love writing my currently craving series because 1. I want every single thing I put on the list and 2. It makes me SO happy to start a new season and find new fashion trends. Right now I really want a shearling coat like this one from Coach. You would assume shearling is heavy and weighs down your shoulders but this coat is the complete opposite. It’s very light and warm, perfect for winter in Boston. I kind of want to buy a silk pajama top like this one from the J.Crew fall collection. People always gravitate towards dark colors during the fall but I like the Warm Almond color the most. I’m not sure if I can pull the look off but it doesn’t hurt to try.
I have one cape from Asos and I want to add another so it won’t be so lonely in my closet. This plaid blanket cape from The Gap might be the perfect addition to my fall collection. I love that the cape comes with a belt so I don’t have to constantly adjust it. I need to buy all new shoes for this season, Sole Society has an affordable selection of fall booties. When I buy fall/winter shoes I wear them until they break. That’s not really a bad thing because it’s money well spent. I really like the tan ankle booties in taupe. Lastly, I’m eyeing these Kristin Cavallari slides in tan! Which one do you guys like best? Tell me and I might end up buying it – LOL!
New York Fashion week is over (sad face). Of course I watched the shows on the NYFW app so I could keep up with all of my favorites like Coach, Jil Sander Navy, Tibi, Marissa Webb, Oscar de la Renta, Derek Lam, and Tory Burch. The Spring collections are always my favorite. Even when the temperature drops you can look at these clothes and imagine warmer days. My personal style correlates with these designers, that’s why I fell for every piece almost immediately. The Coach collection was filled with loose skirts and tops covered in floral prints along with subtle leather pieces that pair well for the fall season. I need to go out and pick up a few mini leather skirts before the snow comes. Overall I like the collection for the earlier fall months when the breeze is subtle and it’s still slightly warm.
I have this new interest in over sized clothing and Tibi has so many pieces I’m drooling over. When I was watching the collection I thought this is the epitome of spring with loose light fabric in neutral and pastel colors. Towards the end of the show darker colors appear on the runway. Perfect for a day to night transition.
TibiMarissa Webb stuck to her masculine/feminine theme of clothing that works so well for her. Her theme was based off of 1950’s photographs of her grandfather dressed head to toes in military fatigue. A lot of the jackets and vest definitely have that hard military feel but she pairs it with a soft blouse or dress. I love her as a designer and her work is always incredible.
Peter Copping did an AMAZING job with this collection. His eye for color is phenomenal and that showed with every piece that made it’s way down the runway. Part of Peter’s inspiration came from Oscar meeting Ava Gardner’s lover who was a bullfighter in the 1950’s. The red that was included in his collection was also inspired by the red carnations that are thrown into the ring after a bullfight.
Oscar de la Renta
Derek Lam’s collection had a bohemian feel which works well for the fall. I love a good sweater dress and this floor length one paired with wooden accessories a great combination. It doesn’t look too heavy so you can wear it during the early fall months. Second is a more formal dress with quarter length sleeves and a flared bottom.
These pieces are GORGEOUS!! According to Tory, she says “beauty found in unexpected places . . . enhanced through time and nature” was her inspiration for the show. Okay, I officially LOVE Tory Burch! Give me this whole collection!
Sugar Lip Treatment (Honey) – For $22.50 it comes in a small round container with an ample amount of lip balm inside. I haven’t had to reapply this to my lips very often which is great because the product will last longer. The lip treatments are tinted so I would suggest trying them before you purchase. The honey one has the perfect amount of tint and you can actually see it on my skin. With my purchase I received a ton of free samples! So far I’ve only tried the Soy Face Cleanser. For a gel cleanser it really works and I’m not a fan of gel cleansers so that’s saying something.
