I have a hard time relaxing on the weekends and I’m often told I need to just chill out and relax. When I try to unwind I end up doing a lot of random stuff around the house. I think I do all of this to keep my mind going which is the complete opposite of relaxing. When I do sit back and kick my feet up there are a few things I really like to do so I wanted to share that with you guys today. I think you might like these tips and I hope you try some out yourself this weekend. What do some of you do to unwind? I would love to hear some tips so I can add them to my weekend routine. I know a few people who mask every weekend and I wish I had the patience to do that. I want my mask to dry immediately because I really don’t like waiting around. I guess I should work on that, the whole point is to unwind right?
1. Soak in the bath
I have a pretty large bubble bath collection and I haven’t used any of it. I want to take more baths and I’m going to start doing it. Bubble bath scents and the hot water can be so relaxing. Read a magazine while you’re in there too!
Groupon has hour-long massages at some of the best places around Boston. My parents got me a birthday massage at the Intercontinental and it was the best one I’ve had in a very long time. The hotel is gorgeous and the spa is beautiful too. I’ve been checking Groupon constantly for that deal again.
3. Read a book
Sometimes relaxing is as simple as laying on your couch and reading a book. I just started Power You Happy by Lisa Sugar, the founder of the popular website PopSugar. I love inspirational books about peoples careers. It feels good to know some of the people we look up to have gone through similar struggles in their life.
A few people that I follow on Instagram swear by meditation and setting aside a few minutes a day to clear their head. I haven’t tried this yet but if I have a really a stressful day I will try it out. Headspace is a really popular one.
Welcome to another weekly roundup post filled with some fun articles and things I loved this week. I normally post this series on Fridays but I decided to post on a Sunday. I have some cool gift guide post coming soon to the blog and I’m really excited to share everything I’m working on with my readers. I don’t know about you but I’m all for the holidays right now!! I’m constantly on Pinterest looking for holiday decor ideas and recipes to make. I plan on making holiday sugar cookies too and decorating them. It’s so hard though because I love sugar cookies! I just want to eat them as soon as they come out the oven. Let me know what you guys like to do during the holidays. I’m always looking for new ideas. Thanks for reading.
One of my favorite influencers Sazan Hendrix linked this podcast called The Influencer Podcast by Julie Solomon. The podcast talks about the changes happening with influencer marketing and the careers of top influencers. It’s so interesting to hear how they started their blogs and future business plans. I linked her website here.
2. J.Jill December Collection
I received some new items from J.Jill just in time for the holidays. I wore this sweater (linked here) already and It’s so soft. I asked for it in a size small and it’s still a little oversized. Stop by the J.Jill website to see what’s new in their December Collection.
3. Things to do in Boston this holiday season
- Hot coco bar at the Avery Bar – Ritz Carlton. Saturdays, December 9, 16, 23 and 30 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
- See The Nutcracker
- Ice Skate at the frog pond
- See the Christmas lights in the Boston Common
- Take your niece, nephew, or child to see Rudolph at the Shubert Theater December 14-17th
4. Afternoon tea at the Taj Hotel
Stop by the Taj Hotel with your girlfriends for afternoon tea. I hear the afternoon tea and pastries are delicious and the hotel is beautiful. Click here to reserve a spot.

Outfit details: Turtleneck sweater: J.Crew (old) Sequined skirt , Heels: Asos
I never thought I would say this but I really love this sequined skirt from J.Crew Factory! I wanted to put together a post about this outfit because it’s perfect for a New Years Eve party with friends or family. J.Crew Factory is the place to shop if you like J.Crew stuff but don’t feel like spending a ton of money.
I feel like I’m really getting into the NYE spirit with the sequins. I plan on buying more sequined items when the time is right but for now this skirt will do just fine. I’ve linked the details to this look at the beginning of this post, check it out before you leave. How do you guys like to style sequins during the holiday? Tell me I would love to know! Also, can you believe NYE is in TWO DAYS!!!? This year ended on such a great note and I’m excited to see what 2017 brings.
