Getting ready with Harry’s

It can take me over an hour to get ready and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. I wake up, shower, make coffee, do my hair, brush my teeth and all that good stuff. I have a strict morning routine I need to stick to and if I skip one step my whole day is off. One routine that’s very important to me is shaving my legs and finding the right razor is so difficult. I have sensitive skin so scented razors and shave gels make me break out and the cheap bulk pack of razors DO NOT work at all.

I was offered product to try from Harry’s and I was really excited to get a new razor in my life.  Men have the best razors so I knew I wouldn’t regret using this. My legs were so soft after the first use it was unbelievable. I can’t even describe how amazing this razor is. I swear right after I felt my legs and I said WOW out loud in the shower to myself. Right now Harry’s is running a shave club free trial  you just have to cover shipping which is only $3. Seriously ladies!! TRY IT! Also, how cute is my pup Tiger!! He’s so photogenic!

Casual in Mules

This is my normal look on a daily basis. I do wear dresses and skirts a lot at work or on the weekends but this is my everyday look. I like to keep it casual and comfortable since it’s the summer and I really hate being hot, it makes me so grumpy. Normally I wear jeans, a cute top, my Keds or flats to work. I really don’t like wearing my nice clothes to work. And when I say my nice clothes I mean my over the top dresses or heels. I really don’t want to wear 6 inch heels for 8 hours.

I found these mint green mules at the Gilt Warehouse sale for 30 dollars. Mules are the most comfortable shoe for me to walk in and I’m really glad I bought these. I was debating between these shoes and black boots that would be perfect for fall but they didn’t fit around my ankles. I normally wouldn’t buy green shoes but this color is so fun. I had an  obsession with this color green in high school but I never really fed into it.

This outfit was a complete steal. I got these pants at Old Navy for $15 dollars and the shirt at Loft for $19.50. If you’re currently looking for comfy weekend pants ( is that even a thing?) these are the pants you want. They are easy to throw on with a t-shirt and some sandals too. On another note I have a really fun collaboration coming up soon and I’m really excited to share it with you! Follow me on Instagram to keep up.

Winter skin favorites

Winter Skin Favorites

With the weather changing so often, I’m not sure if I can really call this winter. But my skin seems to know what season it is so I picked up some new beauty products to use. During the winter months, my skin is constantly dry.  One of the main things I look for with beauty products is moisturizer and hydration. My skin is a mix between oily and dry (my face is oily and my body is dry).

On my lips, I’m using   Vaseline jelly baby in rosy lips. Not my favorite one from the Vaseline brand but I loved the smell. Next time I’ll stick to the original formula.

I’m using three things on my face. First is the Nude Facial cleanser. This must be applied to dry skin and washed off gently with water. Second is the Soul Sunday fine facial scrub. And lastly, Coconut Oil  – not pictured  (found here). I like using coconut oil after I wash my face because my skin is so smooth after. Also, when I don’t feel like using my cleanser I  clean my face with the coconut oil.  It fights acne, takes off makeup, basically coconut oil is the best!

My body products change daily but as of now I’m using Jergens wet skin moisturizer, Palmers cocoa butter , and coconut oil on my face. Cocoa butter has always worked for me so I’m sticking to it.

I have never been a fan of fringe… EVER. But over the years designers have altered the fringe style and I’ve grown to love what it’s become. The way it moves when you walk makes you feel so sexy and powerful. I would only wear fringe on my skirts and shoes because it just look better to me when it’s on those items.  My favorite piece has to be the Tamara Mellon brown skirt.  She’s the former Chief Creative Officer and Co-Founder of Jimmy Choo so of course I would gravitate towards her clothing.

Karuna hydrating face mask

Serum infused cloth mask….Sounds weird right? Well it is but my face loved it. The pack comes with four face cloths that should last for one month when used weekly. Made with 100% natural fiber cloth this mask provides deep conditioning for your skin along with lasting hydration. It took me a second to get the mask on my face but once it’s on just lay back and relax for 10-20 minutes. Once you take the mask off massage the remaining product into your neck and hands. For those of you who suffer from dry skin this mask would definitely help. My apartment felt like the spa! Sunday afternoon mask treatments and relaxation. No better feeling.

Daily skincare routine – Kimberly

Kimberly from Penny Pincher Fashion shared her daily skincare routine with me.

1. When you wake up in the morning what products do you use on your face?

My morning routine is pretty simple.  I wash with Dove Sensitive Skin bar soap & use my Clarisonic Mia to exfoliate my skin.  Then I follow it up with CeraVe am moisturizer (which includes SPF) & a light eye cream.

2. Do you use any products during the day to keep your face fresh?

The only touching up I do throughout the day is with an oil-absorbing powder (Arbonne Mattifying Powder), which helps eliminate shine.

3. What moisturizer do you swear by?

CeraVe has completely transformed my skin.  I was previously using a really expensive 6-step system and my skin starting breaking out after a few months.  My dermatologist recommended CeraVe and once I started using it, I never looked back.  I’ve even gotten friends and family members hooked on it.

4. What is your nighttime routine?

I remove my makeup with Almay eyemakeup remover pads, wash my face with Dove soap & then follow it up with exfolikate scrub. I use CeraVe pm, followed by an anti-aging cream & eye cream.

5. Any new beauty products you just started trying?

The Acure Eye Cream is a new-to-me organic product that I really love.  I’ve noticed a difference since using it and I like that it doesn’t contain harsh chemicals or irritants.

Follain meet the makers event

IMG_0320 (1) IMG_0327 IMG_0330 IMG_0326 IMG_0318 Follain in the South End hosted a meet the makers event with the founder of SW Basics, Adina Grigore.  I got the chance to meet Adina and chat with her about the skincare line. We both share similar views about how important a proper skincare routine is as you get older. I also mentioned to her that switching to natural products really changed my skin and the SW Basics toner works wonders on my face.  She listens to her customers and cares about their skincare results. She signed each book with a personal note and included her e-mail address if we wanted to talk about the products.
